The route  will expose you to Jordan’s diverse ecosystems and historic sights The trail drops from the heights of the mountain plateaus to the Araba Valley and climbs back again, crossing several climate zones, diverse ecosystems, and dramatic labyrinths of hills and valleys .The route ends with the Nabatean masterpiece, Petra.

Canyons Adventures

                                      Wadi Ghuweir (Al-Nakhil)

Few kilometers from Al-Shoubak city is one of the longest water valleys in south Jordan, with a length of more than 17 km.A completely overwhelming and impressive majestic rock formations

 Following the water stream through the canyon will be rewarded with amazing corners and coves before arriving to the oasis. Suddenly, palm trees and a lot of plants and vegetation show up in front of you, which is very rare combined with canyons.( seasonal hiking trail).

This 2.5 km water canyon which is seasonal hiking trail along the river in between towering sandstone cliffs offers a great adventure of hiking splashing sliding for more than 3 hours.

Wadi Al-Hidan is 5 km (3 to 4 hours) water canyon adventure of hiking swimming sliding Located in Madaba, Wadi Al-Hidan is a beautiful basaltic canyon filled with black walled narrow gorges, fresh natural pools, mesmerizing vegetation and wildlife.

                Wadi bin Hammad

Wadi bin Hammad is more than 4 km canyon located in the northwest of Karak city.it is Hot Spring hidden deep in a large valley with lush vegetation, hanging gardens, palm trees, and plenty of water running through the narrow gorge.

 

                            Wadi Al-Hasa 

Wadi Al-Hasa is one of the most beautiful water canyons starting in Tafela governorate in the south of Jordan for 24 km, 2 days hike  to end by small village near the Dead Sea. Al Hasa can be easily done in a day trip by starting from the end of the canyon and enjoy the adventure  for few kilometers.

Day 1 Arrival

Day 2 Amman /Madaba /mount Nebo/Dead Sea/Dana Nature Reserve

After breakfast we drive 45 minutes to Madaba a combination of rural home life and a hot spot for religious tourism. Known as the “City of Mosaics”, Madaba is the cultural epicenter for mosaics. And also well known for tens of old and new churches, and archeological complexes. Here we visit St. George’s Church or the church of the map from the 6th century with magnificent mosaic floor showing a map of the holy land and Egypt. Then a short drive to Mount Nebo which is one of Jordan’s most important Christian holy sites. It is place where Moses saw the Promised Landed before he died, according to the Old Testament. By the 4th century AD, Mount Nebo had already become a pilgrimage site and a church and sanctuary were built to honor Moses. In the 6th century AD, monks constructed a Byzantine monastery with a magnificent mosaic pavement. After enjoying the site we have short drive to enjoy 3 hours in the Dead Sea the lowest point on earth 423 meters below sea level and a destination that beckons visitors from around the world for extraordinary saltwater and enjoying the rich, black, stimulating mud and floated effortlessly on backs while soaking up the water’s healthy minerals along with the gently diffused rays of the Jordanian sun. 2 hours and half Drive to Dana nature reserve.

Day 3 Dana Nature Reserve Hike / Petra

Leaving the camp after breakfast to Shaq al Reesh Trail and khraka hike a stunning gorge in the center of the Dana Nature Reserve. Hike through extraordinary landscapes some more challenging bits with clambering down or up rocks is needed. Lots of amazing rock formations and views along the way (5 hours and half).drive to Petra for an hour to visit little Petra a rock-cut buildings which line the 350-metre long gorge which was a resupplying and caravan station.

Day 4 Petra visit

In this beautiful morning we have full day to enjoy the most famous archaeological sites in the world and one of the new world wonders.  Petra is an ancient city carved into rose-red cliffs. It was the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom 2300 years ago and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visiting Petra from the main gate to enjoy all the must-see sites in Petra enjoy  including the Siq,the Treasury, the Street of Facades, the Roman theater, the Royal Tombs, the Great Temple, the byzantine church and the monastery and enjoying the breathtaking rock-cut architecture. Petra is also well known as the “Rose-Red City” because of the stunning red-rose sandstone cliffs that surround the site. The city was carved into the rock faces of the mountains, creating a unique architectural marvel. 2 hours Drive to wadi rum.

Day 5 Wadi Rum full day hike

We leave the camp to start our hike through the stunning landscapes of wadi rum reach some exceptional 2000 years old inscriptions then to Baqara rock formation then enjoying a very beautiful landscape view OF Um Sabada, to reach the sand dunes of Zaidan. Hiking to Um Nqur for lunch break with amazing view. After the break we hike to Um Fruth Rock Bridge after the scrambling we start going back to the camp. 15 km

Day 6 Wadi Rum to Amman

We leave after breakfast to drive 4hours and half to Amman for a city tour starting with the citadel to wander through the remains of Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad civilizations, marveling at the preserved architecture and artifacts that tell the story of Amman’s diverse history in addition to its rich museum.Driving down to the town to see the Roman Theater which was built in honor of Emperor Antoninus Pius (138–161 AD). Built into the hillside, it was oriented north to keep the sun off the spectators. The large and steeply raked structure could seat about 6,000 people.End our day with an hour wonder in down town the old part of Amman, beckons with its lively markets, known as souks. The air is filled with the lively chatter of vendors and the tantalizing scents of spices and traditional street food. Bargaining and haggling are part of the experience as visitors browse through a myriad of colorful textiles, handicrafts, and souvenirs.

Day 2 Amman/ Mount Nebo/ Madaba /via kings way to Karak/Shobak

After breakfast we drive to Mount Nebo which is one of Jordan’s most important Christian holy sites. It is place where Moses saw the Promised Landed before he died, according to the Old Testament. By the 4th century AD, Mount Nebo had already become a pilgrimage site and a church and sanctuary were built to honor Moses. In the 6th century AD, monks constructed a Byzantine monastery with a magnificent mosaic pavement. Short drive to Madaba a combination of rural home life and a hot spot for religious tourism. Known as the “City of Mosaics”, Madaba is the cultural epicenter for mosaics. And also well known for tens of old and new churches, and archeological complexes. Here we visit St. George’s Church or the church of the map from the 6th century with magnificent mosaic floor showing a map of the holy land and Egypt.Via kings’ way we visit karak castle crossing the Mujeb canyon stunning scenic landscapes. Then we drive for one hour and half to Visit karak castle the largest and most important castles in Jordan, with an area of 25,300 square meters and a height of about 1,000 meters above sea level. Its construction dates back to the era of the Moabites, and the Nabataeans used it, as evidenced by the presence of Nabataean statues engraved in the first foundations of the castle.  When the Crusaders established the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem in the year (1099 AD), they occupied the southern region of Jordan in the years (1115 and 1116 AD) and established the Barony of Karak and Shobak. In the year (1142 AD) the Crusaders seized the Karak fort and started the construction and strengthening of this fort, to protect the southern side of the kingdom and secure the road between Damascus and Egypt during the Crusades.Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi imposed a severe siege on the castle for a period of time, then managed to seize it in the aftermath of the Battle of Hattin. The rule of the castle was later transferred to the Mamluks and then the Ottomans.2 hours and half to Shobak castle this impressive Crusader castle was built by Baldwin I in 1115 and was called Mont Royal. Its defenders withstood numerous attacks from the armies of Saladin (Salah ad Din) before succumbing in 1189 (a year after Karak), after an 18-month siege. It was later occupied in the 14th century by the Mamluks.

Day 3 wadi Qwair canyon (Wadi Al-Nakheel )/Petra

In the morning we start out hike from the heights of shobak area through this unique natural spot Wadi al-Nakhil which extends for more than 17 km linking the area with Wadi Araba. The wadi is breathtaking, with beautiful views constantly. We will see all different rock and geology formations as we walk in the wadi. Then two hours drive to Petra.

Day 3 hike from Dana nature reserve to Mansoura near Shobak

After breakfast, we start hiking through the unique landscapes of the Dana Biosphere Reserve and enjoy the ecosystems the fauna and flora.  We keep hiking through mountains overlooking Dana Valley, then we start going down to Dabat al Khashasha near Mansoura area for our campsite. (15 Km)

Day 4 hike from Mansoura to furon

After breakfast we start hiking towards Furon. We have a kind of challenging by going up the mountains reaching Sharah Mountains and viewing down the magnificent Wadi Araba Desert.reaching the furon for the campsite.(16 km)

Day 5 hike from furon to Ghbour Whedat

In the morning we start our hike through the goat-herders track with several descent and ascent along the way with lot of magical views till reaching the magnificent landscape of Petra area and sitting our camp by Ghbour Whedat.(17km)

Day 6 hike from Ghbour Whedat to little Petra

Our hike in this beautiful day will be like hiking in lunar-like landscapes, wider passages, and smooth rocks in the way with some evidence of the Nabataean civilization.hiking through the farsh area to the beginning of Siq Albarid the cold canyon which take an hour to cross it to little Petra a rock-cut buildings which line the 350-metre long gorge which was a resupplying and caravan station. After exploring we go to little Petra camp.(14 km)

Day 7 hike from little Petra to Petra (the back way)

We start our most beautiful day close to little Petra where we cross by the Neolithic village of Bidha in our way to Wadi Ghurab to reach the first steps of the back way which end by the magnificent and the biggest carved facade in Petra ,the monastery to start our exploration of the city of Petra. We hike down to enjoy all the must-see sites in Petra enjoy  including the byzantine church, the Great Temple , the Royal Tombs, the Roman theater, the Street of Facades, the Treasury,and the Siq , and enjoying the breathtaking rock-cut architecture. Petra is also well known as the “Rose-Red City” because of the stunning red-rose sandstone cliffs that surround the site. The city was carved into the rock faces of the mountains, creating a unique architectural marvel. (14 km)

Day 4 hike from the camp to Burda Mountain

After breakfast we start our beautiful hike though the stunning landscapes of Siq el Barrah, a magnificent desert canyon with immense rock walls. We pass Sandstone Mountains and rocky outcrops, till the mushroom rock then we end our day by Burda Mountain.(20 km)

Day 5 hike from Burda Mountain to umm fruth

Our beautiful day by heading to the optional scrambling of Burdah mountain to reach the top rock arch of Burdah a striking rock formation that arches from one rock mass to another, and the best scrambling spot in wadi rum. There are panoramic views throughout the way. In the afternoon, we continue our hike for 2 hours through the desert to our next campsite nearby Umm Fruth Mountain. (Scrambling 3 hours and half) total hike 10 km.

Day 6 hike unfruth to Umm Ishrin

In this beautiful morning we have an easy scrambling to Umm Fruth rock arch, after that we keep hiking through Wadi Khashkhasheh with it is rare flora to reach Lawrence house, a building that Lawrence of Arabia used to live in, afternoon we pass by 2000 years old unique inscription, Alnufishia inscription then we continue to our campsite near Umm Ishrin.Total hike 17 km

Day 7 Umm Ishrin to Desi village /Amman city tour
